Birthmark Removal

Available in Pittsburgh, PA

Birthmark removal for the face is fast, effective and requires no downtime when performed with the MedLite® C6 laser system. Available in our med spas in Pittsburgh, birthmark removal treatment effectively lightens or removes birthmarks and other types of skin pigmentation conditions.

The MedLite® laser removes birthmarks, port wine stains and other types of unwanted brown pigmentation through the power of PhotoAcoustic energy.

The specialized PhotoAcoustic energy is absorbed by the port wine stains, or brown marks, which are then damaged and lightened or removed entirely.

The MedLite laser system treats port wine birthmarks and other pigmentation irregularities such as:

  • Port Wine Stains
  • Birthmarks
  • Cafe-Au-Lait Spots
  • Nevus of Ota
  • Brown Spots
  • Freckles

Most pigmentation irregularities, like the port wine stain birthmark, are removed after one or two skin treatments, however depending on the degree of pigmentation, more MedLite laser treatments for the port wine stains may be required.

In Pittsburgh, birthmark removal is performed in our Mt. Lebanon, PA, Shadyside, PA and Wexford, PA med spa locations.

Frequently Asked Questions FAQ
Can the birthmark return after having the MedLite laser treatment?
The most common types of port wine stains, birthmarks or pigmented lesions do not return. However, some types of birthmarks may return over time, usually several months to a year. If the birthmark returns the MedLite laser treatment can be performed again.
Is the MedLite laser for birthmark removal painful?
For removal of port wine stains or other types of birthmarks, the MedLite C6 laser emits light in very short pulses of energy. The short pulses of light are often described as feeling like the snap of a rubber band. Following the birthmark removal treatment, the area may feel as though you have a mild sunburn, which dissipates within a day or two. Anesthesia is not necessary for the MedLite laser treatment, but depending on your own comfort level you may request a topical desensitizing cream.
