Revolutionary New Nonsurgical Skin Tightening Treatment Now Available The Skin Center Medical Spa

Ultherapy Employs Ultrasound to Lift Sagging Brows, Face, Neck with No Downtime

(PITTSBURGH – March 29, 2012) A revolutionary new nonsurgical treatment for lifting, tightening and rejuvenating loose and sagging skin will be available to clients at the Skin Center Medical Spa in Pittsburgh beginning in April.

Combining ultrasound imaging with ultrasound therapy, the Ulthera® system is the first and only device cleared by the FDA for use as a noninvasive face and neck treatment with a specific indication for eyebrow lifting.  Ultherapy enables practitioners to see and direct sound waves deep into and under the skin, heating the underlying tissue layers and producing firmer, more youthful skin without cutting or disrupting the skin’s surface.  The treatment, which is completed in an hour or less, also stimulates the body to create new collagen, resulting in firmer, more youthful looking skin within weeks.

“This is the only FDA-cleared noninvasive procedure capable of precisely targeting the deep tissue layers that would traditionally be addressed in surgery,” says board-certified cosmetic surgeon Dominic Brandy, MD, founder and medical director for The Skin Center.  “Ultherapy makes it possible for us to tighten the underlying support system of the skin while triggering the production of new collagen for natural and long-lasting results that actually improve over time. It’s a great option for individuals who want to stay ahead of the aging process.”

Ultherapy is most frequently used to address sagging skin along the eyelid and brow.  As lax skin along the brow is tightened, excess skin over the lids is reduced, opening up the eyes and producing a more refreshed appearance.  Most patients see an initial effect immediately following the procedure, but will see continued improvement over two to three months as skin over the eyelid continues to tighten and lift with the production of new collagen. In most cases, only one treatment is required.
