Over the last 30 years, thousands of Pittsburgh women have sat in my office, looking for a change. As a cosmetic surgeon, I have spent countless hours talking with them, listening to their concerns about their face, their neck, their body, their skin. I know what many of you are thinking — those who seek the services of a cosmetic surgeon do so out of vanity. However, in my experience this is simply not true. It is the stereotypes of those who choose cosmetic surgery procedures that are often played out in the media, which on the one hand chronicles every perceived physical flaw or change to a celebrity’s appearance, and on the other bemoans society’s fixation with youth and beauty.
