Eyelid Surgery Pittsburgh

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Pittsburgh, PA
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) can be performed on the upper eyelids to remove excess skin and improve sagging or drooping eyelids or it may be performed on the lower eyelids to remove fatty pouches or "under eye bags" and improve the appearance of dark circles under the eye.

Eyelid Surgery is performed on both eyes during the same surgery, which is why many people refer to it as "double eyelid surgery'.  Double Eyelid Surgery or Eyelid Surgery offers dramatic improvement to the overall appearance of the face, giving men and women a more rested, energetic and youthful eye area.

Eyelid Surgery or Blepharoplasty:

  • Removes Under Eye Bags
  • Lifts Drooping Eyelids
  • Brightens and Refreshes Eyes
  • Improves Dark Circles Under the Eyes

Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery in Pittsburgh, PA

Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery in Pittsburgh, PA is performed by Dominic Brandy, MD, board-certified cosmetic surgeon in The Skin Center Medical Spa's accredited surgical facility located in Mt. Lebanon, PA.  During Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery of the upper eyelid, Dr. Brandy will make an incision along the crease of the upper eye lid, removing excess skin.  Tiny sutures are used to close the incision that is hidden within the crease of the eye, making the eyelid surgery scars virtually undetectable.

During Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery of the lower eye lid, Dr. Brandy, board-certified cosmetic surgeon, will remove the fat pads or under eye bags beneath the eye by making a tiny incision inside the lower eye lid where it is completely hidden from view, making the lower eyelid surgery scars completely undetectable.  Blepharoplasty surgery may take one to two hours depending on the type of Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery performed.

Recovery from Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Recovery from eyelid surgery will vary from patient to patient.  However, following Eyelid Surgery, the eyelid area will be swollen and bruised.  Pain medication and bed rest are recommended for three to five days.  After this period of time, most eyelid surgery patients feel well enough to resume light daily activities.  Strenuous exercise should be avoided for about three weeks.   Bruising after eyelid surgery may take two weeks or more to completely diminish, however makeup can be applied to help conceal the bruising.

Most individuals are able to return to work in about a week after eye lid surgery, depending on their occupations.  When lower eye lid surgery is performed alone, cover-up makeup may be applied after 48 hours to conceal any bruising.  If a chemical eye peel is performed with either type of eyelid surgery, camouflage makeup cannot be worn for 10 days.

The results from Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery are noticeable immediately and continue to improve as the bruising and swelling diminishes.  Healing after eyelid surgery will continue and the eyelid surgery scars will eventually fade and will not be noticeable.

Cost of Eyelid Surgery

The cost of double eyelid surgery will depend on the type of eyelid surgery that is performed and if other eyelid rejuvenation treatments are performed during the eyelid surgery.  The cost of eyelid surgery and the type of eye rejuvenation treatments performed will vary from patient to patient and will be determined during a private surgical consultation.

At The Skin Center Medical Spa in Pittsburgh, PA, we approach surgical consultations with a highly customized, patient-centered process.  First, discussing the motivation for having double eyelid surgery, the goal of the eyelid surgery and the patients' expectation following eyelid surgery.  You will leave the Pittsburgh eyelid surgery consultation understanding in detail the cost for eyelid surgery, the recovery from eyelid surgery and have a reasonable expectation of the results from the eyelid surgery.
