Who is a good candidate for the CoolTouch® III gentle laser acne treatment?
Anyone wanting to reduce active acne outbreaks and improve the appearance of existing acne scars. The CoolTouch III™ gentle laser is a non-invasive laser treatment with no associated downtime and is appropriate for all skin types including darker complexions.

How is the CoolTouch® III gentle laser treatment different?
Unlike other types of acne treatments, the CoolTouch™ III targets the source of acne – oil glands -- not just the symptoms. By applying gentle pulses of light to the treatment area, the energy penetrates deep into the dermis shrinking oil glands and decreasing their capacity to produce acne. The Cooltouch™ also triggers your body to produce new collagen, thus filling in existing acne scars and depressions.

What can I expect during a treatment?
Approximately 30 minutes before your treatment, a topical anesthetic will be applied to minimize discomfort. During the treatment, a cool mist will be sprayed to protect and cool the skin while gentle pulses of laser energy penetrate the skin, reduce the size of oil glands and stimulate collagen production. Most people feel a series of warm sensations and may see a flushing of the skin for a short period of time following treatment. Afterwards, you may apply makeup and resume your normal activities.

How many treatments are needed to see results?
The number of treatments will be determined by the condition and area being treated. Typically, more than one treatment is needed to achieve the best results. On average, most people receive 3-6 treatments at monthly intervals to see maximum results.

Is there any at-home products that will help improve the results?
Yes. We recommend that all of our clients with active acne use glycolic acid to help exfoliate and retin-A to help build new collagen and improve the overall condition of the skin. In some cases, additional products will be recommended by our skin health specialists.

Is the CoolTouch® III gentle laser treatment painful?
Most people describe the sensation to be like a series of rubber band snaps or mild tingling on the skin as the pulses of energy are delivered through the hand piece. Both the topical anesthetic and the cool mist help to minimize discomfort and make the treatment as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

What will my recovery be like?
The CoolTouch™ III is so gentle that there is no recovery period. Some people may experience slight facial flushing, which gradually subsides within an hour or so.

How quickly can I resume my daily activities?
There is no downtime associated with the CoolTouch™ III. Most people feel comfortable going back to their normal activities immediately following treatment, even applying makeup.

How much time is needed for a CoolTouch® III gentle laser treatment?
The amount of time depends on the area and severity of the condition being treated, typically, treatments take from 10-30 minutes. Your medical service provider will discuss the length of the treatment during your consultation.
