Hair Loss Alternatives for Women

In the past decade, hair transplantation and nonsurgical options have evolved that give women with thinning hair more fullness and greater self-esteem.

Hair Transplantation

Natural Hair Integration®, which was developed by Dominic A. Brandy, M.D., is a hair transplantation technique that is commonly performed on women and men with thinning hair. The procedure involves using the patients' own hair to restore fullness to thinning areas. To obtain the best results in women, follicular units that contain one to three hairs are used in the transplantation process.

During a simple outpatient procedure, hair follicles are harvested from the "fringe area" which is located in the back of the head and they are transplanted carefully into the thinning areas. Using this very precise technique, there is very little or no damage to existing hair on the patient's head. There is no need to worry about losing the newly transplanted hair because this hair, which originally grew in the "fringe" area, is not predisposed to pattern baldness.

Most women are very satisfied with one or two Natural Hair Integration sessions, while others opt for an additional procedure for added fullness.

For more detailed information about how this procedure may benefit you, we invite you to call our office at 1-800-429-1151 to schedule a Complimentary Hairloss Evaluation with Dr. Brandy or one of his consulting assistants. For your convenience, Saturday and evening hours are available.

Rogaine for Women

Rogaine For Women contains minoxidil, which is the only FDA-approved active ingredient for female hair thinning. It has been proven safe and effective in extensive clinical trials and through years of consumer experience.

Rogaine For Women works with your natural hair growth cycle. Normal hair experiences three cycles: a growth phase, a transition phase, and a resting phase. Sometime during the resting phase, the hair will fall out, or shed, to prepare for a new hair to grow. Then the hair follicle begins the growth phase once again.

For those hair follicles that are genetically predetermined to hereditary hair thinning, the hair follicles get smaller and smaller, which reduces the amount of time the hair follicles spend in the growth phase. This process is called miniaturization. Rogaine For Women reverses the hair thinning process and lengthens the growth phase by revitalizing the hair follicle.

If you are not satisfied with the results you are experiencing with Rogaine for Women and would like to consider surgical hair restoration.
