LUCE® Light Therapy

For most men, hair loss is inevitable — at least to some degree.

Until recently, the only options for men experiencing male pattern hair loss were topically applied Rogaine®, Propecia®, or a surgical alternative.

Today, there is an effective, FDA-approved technology that can offer promising results in men (and women) with various types of hair loss.

LUCE® Light Therapy involves simply sitting under the low-level infrared laser light during a series of treatments. During treatment, the cool light penetrates the scalp to increase blood and lymph circulation at the root of the hair, which helps decrease inflammation and energize the follicular cells causing hair to grow thicker, stronger and more lustrous.

LUCE (pronounced LOO-CHAY) Light Therapy has been shown to slow hair loss progression in up to 90 percent of patients and convert 70 percent of hair from the resting phase to the growing phase. The LUCE system is also effective after hair restoration surgery, encouraging the newly transplanted hairs to begin to grow without first being shed, which is typical after most hair transplantation procedures.

For more information on how this treatment may benefit you, we invite you to call our offices at 1-800-429-1151 to schedule a complimentary hair evaluation.

Who is the best candidate for the LUCE® Light Therapy?
The best candidates for the LUCE Light Therapy are men who are just starting to experience male pattern hair loss, those who are considering a surgical alternative, and those who are not satisfied with the current condition of their hair. With LUCE treatments, hair loss progression can be stabilized in up to 90 percent of patients and the treatment has been shown to re-grow hair in up to 50 percent of patients. LUCE Light Therapy may also improve the quality of existing hair, making it thicker, fuller and more manageable.

Can LUCE Light Therapy help with genetic hair loss?
Yes. Male pattern hair loss, or androgenic alopecia, is the most common type of hair loss in men. This type of hair loss, which typically begins in the frontal area of the scalp, affects approximately 70 percent of men in the United States. In clinical studies, LUCE Light Therapy has been shown to stabilize hair loss progression in up to 90 percent of patients and has been shown to re-grow hair in up to 50 percent of patients. The best time to begin Light Therapy is in the early stages of pattern hair loss when much of the thinning can be deterred if treatment is successful.

How many sessions will I need?
For men with pattern hair loss, we strongly recommend a more aggressive approach and have found that two light sessions per week for six to eight weeks works may well with maintenance treatments for up to a year or longer, depending on the person’s initial thinning condition and the improvement that has been experienced.

When LUCE Light Therapy is used in the treatment of temporary hair loss or for general hair enhancement, more conservative therapy may be suggested. The number of sessions and duration of therapy will vary based on individual situations.

Can I do anything to improve the result of my treatment?
For the most effective treatment, regardless of the cause, we recommend regular use of copper peptide-based cleansers and enhancers. Ask for specific recommendations during a private consultation in which all of your questions can be answered.
