Unlike most upper armlift procedures that leave a long scar along the length of the upper arm, the procedure developed by Dr. Dominic Brandy is accomplished with a concealed crescent-shaped incision carefully positioned in or near the armpit. This approach is welcome by most women because it allows them to wear short-sleeved fashions without worrying about visible scarring. SmartLipo™ of the area is optional for added skin tightening and for the removal of any excess fat. Recovery is generally short, allowing patients to resume their everyday routines with few restrictions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is a good candidate for an Upper Arm Lift?
Candidates for an upper arm lift vary considerably due to the versatility of the procedure. Healthy women who have tried to tighten and tone the upper arm area without success are generally good candidates even though they may have a limited amount of excess skin. On the other hand, women with more severe skin laxity–those who have lost a significant amount of weight or who inherited the condition are also candidates. In some of these cases, the incision may be slightly longer and SMARTLipo™ may be suggested for further skin tightening and for the removal of excess fat.
How much skin will be removed?
The amount of skin that will be removed using the minimal scar technique will be determined during your consultation and is based on your physical condition and your expectations.
How long is the recovery period?
The recovery period depends on whether the procedure is performed exclusively or in conjunction with SMARTLipo™. Generally, certain activities such as exercising and swimming will be restricted for up to two weeks following the procedure and you may be asked to wear a compression garment to aid in the healing process and to help you obtain optimal results quickly.
When can I expect to see results?
The results are immediate and continued improvement will be seen over time as the incision site heals and any swelling diminishes.
Are the results long lasting?
Yes. Your tighter, more contoured upper arms will be long lasting, and as with any surgical procedure, the incisions will continue to fade and become even less noticeable. However, excessive weight gain can affect the result, and the normal aging process will gradually diminish the positive effect over time.
