What is a Brow Lift?
A Brow Lift lifts heavy, tired looking eyebrows giving the eye area a brighter more rested appearance while smoothing forehead wrinkles; creating a brighter, friendlier and more youthful appearance.
A Brow Lift not only improves the appearance of the eyes, but also minimizes other age-related issues such as:
- Brow Furrows
- Deep Forehead Lines
- Frown Lines
- Heavy Brows
Although there is no age restriction for having brow lifts, most individuals who have the procedure performed are between 50 and 65 years of age.
In Pittsburgh, brow lift surgery is performed by board-certified cosmetic surgeon, Dominic Brandy, MD.
In Columbus, OH brow lift surgery is performed by board-certified plastic surgeon, Fernando Colon, MD.
Brow Lift Procedure
Brow lift addresses diminished muscle tone in the forehead, which causes heavy, drooping eyebrows and tired, aging eyes. A brow lift rejuvenates the upper face by brightening the eye area and eliminating deep lines and furrows along the brow.
During surgery, an incision is made at or slightly behind the hairline, where it will be completely hidden by the surrounding hair. The surgeon carefully weakens the muscles that caused the furrows, and gently lifts and stretches the skin, carefully raising the eyebrows for a brighter, more alert and natural appearance.
Brow lift surgery may take up to two hours depending on the extent of the brow lift procedure or if the brow lift is being combined with other facial rejuvenation treatments or procedures.
In Pittsburgh, brow lift surgery is performed in our state licensed and nationally-accredited (AAAHC) surgical center located in Mt. Lebanon, PA. In Columbus, brow lift surgery is performed in our nationally-accredited (AAAHC) surgery center located in Gahanna, OH.
Brow Lift Recovery
Following brow lift, the forehead area may be swollen and slightly bruised. Pain medication and rest is recommended for five to seven days. After this period of time, most patients feel well enough to resume light daily activities. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for three to four weeks.
Most individuals are able to return to work about a week after surgery, depending on their occupations. When an eyebrow lift is performed alone, cover-up makeup may be applied after 48 hours to conceal any bruising.
The result from brow lift surgery is noticeable immediately and continues to improve as the bruising and swelling diminishes.
How long do the results from a Brow Lift last?
Results from surgery are permanent, but it is important to remember that the aging process does continue. Although, over time the forehead and eyebrows will show signs of aging, the upper face will always look more youthful than it would if the brow lift surgery was never performed.
Can brow lifts be performed with other facial rejuvenation treatments?
Yes, in fact most individuals find the results of brow lift surgery enhanced by having other anti-aging procedures performed at the same time. Depending on specific aging concerns, brow lift surgery may also be combined with:
•Chemical Eye Peel
•Lower Eyelid Surgery
•Chemical Face Peel
Risks of Brow Lift Surgery
Men and women of all ages choose cosmetic surgery for a number of reasons and the process of deciding to have elective cosmetic plastic surgery is highly individualized and very personal. This decision can offer lasting improvement not only to an individual's physical appearance, but also to his or her self-confidence and self-esteem. However, choosing to have any type of elective surgery, including cosmetic surgery is not without risk and potential complications.
