What is The O-Shot®?
The O-Shot®, available at The Skin Center Medical Spa, is among the non-surgical, minimally invasive treatments available for female sexual dysfunction and mild to moderate urinary stress incontinence.
A platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection administered to the vaginal tissue, the O-Shot helps regenerate the tissue and stimulate additional healthy tissue growth. Promoting regeneration and repair of vaginal tissue can enable women to address sexual dysfunction symptoms. Not only an issue for men, sexual dysfunction affects millions of women who needlessly suffer with intimacy issues that have the potential to negatively impact their daily lives.
The O-Shot can help women who are experiencing:
- Low sex drive

- Difficulty becoming aroused/reaching orgasm
- Mild to moderate urinary incontinence
- Increases vaginal sensitivity
- Increases vaginal lubrication
- Tightens vaginal tissue
- Increases sexual desire
- Enhances ability to achieve orgasm
- Helps improve some forms of mild to moderate urinary incontinence
The O-Shot ® procedure begins with a simple blood draw. The growth factors from the PRP are extracted from the blood sample and injected into a sufficiently numbed areas near the clitoris and upper vagina. Local anesthetic cream is used in the areas to ensure patients experience as little discomfort as possible during the procedure.
- Minimally-invasive treatment requiring local numbing cream
- Performed in as few as 30 minutes
- No discomfort, downtime or delay in return to sexual activity
Following the O-Shot, patients notice an initial increase in blood flow to the region, which may last in a subtle yet noticeable way for up to a week. Women generally experience enhanced sensitivity in the region lasting up to 18 months or more.
What is the O-Shot?
The O-Shot is a relatively painless non-surgical, in-office procedure used to treat a variety of female sexual dysfunction and incontinence issues.
How is the O-Shot administered?
First, the patient’s own blood is obtained via a simple blood draw from the arm. Second, after the blood is placed in a centrifuge for approximately 10 minutes, PRP is isolated from the sample. Third, the clitoral and upper vaginal region are numbed with a topical anesthetic cream. Fourth, the PRP is injected back into numbed vaginal tissue.
Is the O-Shot painful?
For most patients, there is very little pain or discomfort as a result of the O-Shot. Many patients report a slight pinch or a warm sensation with no discomfort following the injection. Patients may return to normal activities, including sexual intimacy immediately following treatment.
Are there any side effects from treatment?
Typically there are no side effects from ThermiVa treatment. Mild cramping, which occurs rarely, resolves within 24 hours. There are no restrictions on physical or sexual activity following a ThermiVa session.
How many O-Shot treatments are needed?
The O-Shot consists of one injection that takes approximately 30 minutes. Patients may wish to have additional maintenance treatments depending on their particular symptoms and areas of concern.
