Is laser hair removal a major ordeal?

To undergo laser hair removal, you don’t have to take any time off work to recover. You don’t’ have to do anything outlandish to prepare for your treatment. You just need to show up. The time commitment is minimal but it does extend out for several months. This is because laser hair removal follows the hair’s natural growth cycle. A series of treatments is scheduled with each session about 8 weeks apart from the next. Not so complicated at all!

What kind of pain should I expect from laser hair removal?

It is very rare for a person to not ask about the pain aspect of laser hair removal. We understand why. Early laser devices were pretty darn powerful! Technology had to be reigned in a bit, and it has been now that devices are more sophisticated. That’s one thing that has helped laser hair removal become more comfortable, down to a little slap against the skin, really.

A tip that we offer patients to help laser hair removal be even more comfortable is to shave before their treatment. The way that laser hair removal works is by vaporizing individual strands of hair (hundreds at one time). When hair is longer, energy has a farther distance to go into the hair follicle. This intensifies the sensation of heat and may be momentarily uncomfortable. Shaving shortens the distance laser has to travel and thereby diminishes the heat absorbed into each follicle. It’s that easy!

Are the results of laser hair removal really permanent?

All the hassle and pain has got to be worth it, right? Clearly, we’re joking. There is no hassle and there is no pain to the whole laser hair removal process. There are, however, excellent rewards. After laser hair removal, patients can expect years of smooth skin. Some people may never notice regrowth. However, some do. If hair starts to grow again at some point, though, strands of hair are typically very thin and growth is sparse. A quick touch-up treatment typically does the trick in this situation.
