What are PDO NovaThreads?

How do PDO NovaThreads work?

Ultra-thin needles inject synthetic polydioxanone (PDO) threads into the treatment area, lifting the skin while simultaneously stimulating collagen production. Your body absorbs the threads over the next four to six months—even after they’re fully absorbed, your body continues generating collagen to maintain the lifting effect.

  • Am I a candidate for PDO NovaThreads?

    Ideal candidates for PDO NovaThreads are individuals who are starting to notice mild to moderate skin laxity, early signs of aging and the subtle loss of facial definition but are not ready for a surgical procure like the QuickLift facelift.

    During a consultation, your provider will evaluate your skin, aesthetic goals and facial anatomy to determine if PDO NovaThreads are the best treatment for you.

     

  • Is there any downtime associated with a thread lift?

    There is no downtime associated with NovaThreads thread lift. The treatment is minimally invasive, so patients can typically return to normal activity immediately after.

  • Are there any side effects from the NovaThreads?

    Side effects are minimal and may include swelling, bruising, and tenderness in the treatment area. These side effects typically last a few weeks after treatment. You may also experience a stinging or pulling sensation along with some discomfort for approximately two to four weeks after treatment.

  • When will I see results from the threadlift?

    You will notice a natural-looking, lifted appearance immediately after your NovaThreads treatment, and your skin will produce collagen for months after the treatment. Together, the sutures and collagen in your skin can produce results that last up to 15 months.

Things to Keep In Mind for Treatment

  1. Note that you must notify The Skin Center prior to treatment if you take prescribed blood thinners.
  2. Avoid the following for 10 days before treatment: Blood thinners (including aspirin or any aspirin-containing products), anti-inflammatory, analgesic drugs (including NSAIDs such as Aleve, ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin), St. Johns Wort, omega-3s, and vitamin E.
  3. Refrain from consuming alcohol for 10 days before treatment.
  4. Refrain from having surgical procedures for two weeks before treatment.
  5. Refrain from having routine procedures such as dental work for two weeks before treatment.

  1. Note that you may take over-the-counter Tylenol as directed on the bottle, if needed.
  2. Sleep with your head elevated the night of your treatment.
  3. Wash your face gently, avoiding massaging and manipulating the treated area.
  4. Regularly reapply SPF 30+ and avoid direct sunlight to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  5. Avoid strenuous exercise for one week after facial treatments.
