What is Dysport?

Dysport is an FDA-approved cosmetic injectable performed to reduce the appearance of mild to severe dynamic wrinkles. This injectable is a great choice for adults who want to look younger without undergoing surgical procedures. In fact, injectables like Dysport can achieve some improvements that surgery may not! With an eye for the most natural-looking results in facial rejuvenation, we are excited to offer Dysport treatment at our Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, and Columbus, OH med spa locations.

How does Dysport work?

Dysport injections work by blocking the nerves that signal a muscle to contract. With just a few injections, the target muscle or muscles become relaxed, but not so much that you lose expressiveness. Our experienced injectors use techniques and instruments to maximize your treatment comfort. Most of our patients feel a minor, momentary pinching sensation as each injection is given.
Dysport FAQs
  • How is the Dysport treatment performed?

Dysport is a quick, minimally invasive treatment that may be completed in under 30 minutes. During your appointment, you will meet with an experienced injector to discuss your areas of concern and treatment goals.

Once your treatment plan is finalized, Dysport is injected into the targeted facial muscles using a very fine needle. The carefully placed injections temporarily relax the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles, helping smooth facial expression lines and help prevent them from becoming more pronounced.

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the procedure and can return to their normal activities immediately following treatment.

  • How many Dysport injections will I need?

The number of injections you will need depends on your goals. When you meet with your provider, they will let you know how many units of Dysport you need to achieve the best results. The number of units you need may be different from the number of injections given. Regardless of the number of injections, we will keep you comfortable throughout your treatment!

  • What is recovery like after Dysport?

There is no recovery after getting Dysport. You can go right back to most of your normal activities. The primary post-treatment guidelines are to avoid lying down and not work out for four to five hours after getting your injections. It is also important to avoid applying pressure to the face after getting Dysport so that the product does not migrate away from the treatment area.

  • What will the results of Dysport look like?

The results of Dysport build over five to seven days, and the full results will be seen in fourteen days. As the muscles relax, the overlying creased and wrinkled skin starts to smooth out. The muscles that weren’t treated retain the ability to contract normally, so you can expect your results to look beautifully natural.

  • How long will the results last?

The results of Dysport injections may vary from person to person. Generally, the active ingredient continues working for three to six months. Treatment can be repeated every three to four months to maintain your rejuvenated appearance.

  • How much does Dysport cost at The Skin Center?

Dysport pricing at The Skin Center is unique for each patient. The total cost of treatment varies based on the areas being treated, your facial anatomy, and the number of units required to achieve your desired results. During your consultation, one of our experienced medical clinicians will recommend a personalized treatment plan and provide an exact cost estimate.

On average, Dysport costs $12 to $15.50 per unit, depending on available specials and packages, and enrollment in rewards programs such as Alle, Aspire, and The Skin Center’s Loyalty program.

If you are thinking about having a Dysport treatment, it is important to consider quality over cost. A skilled injector combines precision and personalized care to deliver refreshed, natural-looking results.

  • What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?

Botox and Dysport are both FDA-approved injectable treatments that reduce dynamic wrinkles by temporarily limiting muscle movement; both are commonly used to treat forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet. While Botox and Dysport treat wrinkles and fine lines, they differ in formulation, onset of action, diffusion, and dosage.

The best option for you will depend on your treatment goals, facial anatomy, and provider recommendation.
