Lip Filler At Columbus OH Medspa

Why choose The Skin Center Medical Spa’s Columbus location for my Botox injections?

At our Columbus office of The Skin Center, our Botox® injections are handled by our registered nurse, Stephanie Mason, RN. As a trained nurse, Stephanie has an intricate knowledge and understanding of facial anatomy. This is critical when it comes to Botox® injections, as the neuromodulator must be injected into the correct muscle to erase the wrinkles forming above it on the surface skin. If Botox® is injected into an incorrect muscle, that can lead to issues such as a droopy eyelid.

Stephanie has extensive training with Botox® and has a loyal following with our Columbus patients. Her knowledge, experience, and expertise handling Botox® makes our Columbus location of The Skin Center the perfect spot to come in for Botox® injections to erase your crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines.

What dermal filler options are available at the Columbus location?

At our Columbus location, we offer a wide variety of dermal fillers, including the newest hyaluronic acid fillers in the RHA Collection. These are the fillers we offer with brief descriptions of each:

Juvéderm

One of the original dermal fillers, along with Restylane, Juvéderm® is a family of dermal fillers that return volume to different areas of the face. These fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that is found in most animals. In humans, hyaluronic acid is responsible for keeping the skin hydrated and firm. When Juvéderm® is injected beneath a wrinkle, the hyaluronic acid binds with nearby water molecules to fill the area and hydrate and plump the skin. Juvéderm is used to erase parentheses lines, smile lines, marionette lines, barcode lines, and to return volume to areas of volume loss. Juvéderm is also effective for lip augmentation.

Juvéderm Voluma

Voluma is one of the extensions of the Juvederm® line of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. Voluma was formulated specifically to address “age-related midface volume loss.” You know it as flat, sagging cheeks. Where your young cheeks were plump and somewhat round, your older cheeks are flat and, in many cases, hollow. This is due to collagen loss, along with the unending pull of gravity. Juvéderm® Voluma is formulated to add volume beneath the skin’s surface to lift and contour the cheek area. It returns the plumpness that is a tenet of more youthful cheeks.

Restylane

This was the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Approved by the FDA in 2006, Restylane® immediately became popular for addressing marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and other wrinkles by adding volume beneath the wrinkle or crease and pushing the surface skin upward. Since the development of the original Restylane®, Galderma (the maker of Restylane®) has expanded the line.

Restylane Lyft

Restylane® Lyft was one of those line extensions. The FDA approved Lyft specifically to return volume to deficient cheeks, the mid-face area, and the backs of the hands. You may not have heard about Lyft; that’s because it was formerly known as Perlane. The hands are areas we often forget when thinking about aging. But as the skin thins our veins and tendons take on elevated prominence. Injections of Restylane® Lyft return volume, making your hands look younger. This helps to hide the tendons and blood vessels that become more and more prominent the older we get.

RHA from Revance

These are the newest hyaluronic acid fillers, sometimes called second generation HA fillers. RHA stands for resilient hyaluronic acid. These fillers are designed for the dynamics of our facial movements, so the volume they provide looks more natural and adapts to movement without breaking down as quickly as the first-generation fillers Juvéderm® and Restylane®. Here’s where we’ve been using RHA fillers for our Columbus patients:

  • RHA 2 works best on nasolabial folds, the colloquial “smile lines” that run from the nose down to the corners of the mouth.
  • RHA 3 can be used for nasolabial folds and the commissures, the corners of the mouth.
  • RHA 4 is most appropriate for deeper nasolabial folds and for deeper lines in the lower face and jawline. RHA 4 can also be used off-label in the midface to add volume to sunken cheeks.

Radiesse

Dermal fillers can be categorized as natural or synthetic. Natural fillers such as Restylane® and Juvéderm® are hyaluronic acid-based and plump the skin by binding with water molecules. Radiesse® is a synthetic filler that uses a two-pronged approach to plumping the skin and filling wrinkles. First, it uses calcium microspheres to add structure under the skin where collagen (the skin’s natural structural support) has dwindled. Second, it triggers the body to build new collagen around the injection areas to continue supporting the skin for up to one year. Radiesse is used for smile and marionette lines, along with other lines around the mouth and chin.

Belotero

Belotero® Balance is a hyaluronic acid-based filler that smooths and fills moderate to severe nasolabial folds. Belotero® Balance is created using the proprietary Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CPM) process. Rather than simply pushing up a wrinkle, Belotero® blends into the natural structure of your skin. Once injected, the hyaluronic binds with water molecules to plump the skin. It is a smooth, flexible gel that gently fills the etched-in lines and wrinkles around your mouth.

What are some lip features that can be changed with dermal filler injections?

At The Skin Center, lip augmentation with dermal fillers is completely unique to each patient. Some patients may want to erase some vertical lip lines. Others may want to make their lips more symmetrical. Or may simply want plumper, more kissable lips!

These are some specific areas Stephanie considers with lip augmentation:

  • Cupid’s bow — This is the name of the area in the middle of your upper lip. This is thought to be the focus of the lips, and the filler adds definition.
  • Center fullness — Signature lip beauty means they are fuller in the center, tapering off at the corners.
  • Profile projection — When viewed from the side, your upper lip should project slightly above your lower lip.
  • Side-to-side symmetry — Augmentation can balance asymmetrical lips.
