What skin concerns can Revance address?
Revance RHA Collection products are the first dermal fillers to be FDA-approved for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles and folds in patients 22 years and older. Dynamic wrinkles are the ones that form when you smile, laugh, frown, and make other facial expressions. These creases form in areas where movement occurs, so we want to smooth them in the most flexible way possible. The RHA Collection lets us do that by providing three powerful products to choose from.
RHA 2 may be used to:
- Enhance the lips
- Smooth lip lines
- Reduce superficial wrinkles
- Smooth radial cheek lines
RHA 3 may be used on:
- Nasolabial folds between the nose and mouth
- Creases at the corners of the mouth
RHA 4 may be ideal for:
- Deeper nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines from the corners of the mouth to the chin
- The jawline
How does Revance work?
Revance RHA dermal fillers are formulated with hyaluronic acid. This substance is naturally found in the body. It helps the skin to maintain volume and moisture by holding water molecules. Volume and moisture are some of the cornerstones of youthful-looking skin. When injected beneath the uppermost tissue, hyaluronic acid replenishes moisture by drawing water molecules to the area and holding them in place. This is exactly how natural hyaluronic acid works. As the skin ages, though, it doesn’t have as much of this acid as it used to. Injecting HA beneath lines and creases plumps the subcutaneous layer of tissue, so the skin once again looks smooth and youthful.
How does Revance compare to other dermal fillers?
Why choose Revance RHA when other fillers are made with the same active ingredient? Because it’s all about manufacturing. Revance RHA Collection fillers have hyaluronic acid, yes, but these products are made differently. Revance uses a gentle manufacturing process that requires fewer chemical modifications to the HA particles. This process preserves longer hyaluronic acid chains that allow the filler to more closely mimic the natural HA in the skin. What this means for you is smoother, softer skin that moves naturally and looks amazing.
How many Revance injections will I need for best results?
Revance RHA fillers achieve excellent results in a single appointment. Your provider slowly injects small amounts of the appropriate filler just beneath the skin until they see the desired improvement. The process usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. After injecting the filler, the provider may carefully massage the area to distribute the gel evenly. The number of injections and amount of filler used depends on your treatment goals and the severity of creases or volume loss. Sometimes, patients return a few weeks after their initial treatment to boost their results.
Are dermal filler injections painful?
It does not hurt to get dermal filler injections. Revance RHA fillers contain lidocaine in the gel, which makes treatment easily tolerable. If you are concerned about discomfort, talk to your provider. They may apply a topical numbing cream to help you feel at ease. Numbing cream takes 15 to 30 minutes to work, so you will need to plan accordingly.
What are the potential risks and complications of Revance?
There is minimal downtime associated with Revance RHA dermal fillers. The most common side effects are pinpoint redness and swelling. Bruising could also occur. You may decrease this risk by avoiding aspirin, alcohol, and other blood-thinning substances for a few days before your appointment. Because there is lidocaine in Revance fillers, the treatment area may feel slightly numb for a few hours after injections. Other side effects noticed during clinical trials include lumps and bumps, tenderness, firmness, and minor tenderness. Sensation is expected to go back to normal within a few days.
