What is PRP Treatment?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment is a regenerative procedure that uses components of your own blood to stimulate collagen and elastin production, promoting healthier, more youthful skin. PRP contains concentrated platelets and growth factors that activate the body’s natural healing process and support tissue regeneration. When applied topically after microneedling or delivered through injections, PRP enhances skin texture, tone, and elasticity by boosting collagen production. This treatment offers a natural approach to skin rejuvenation with minimal downtime. PRP is ideal for individuals looking to improve skin tone, reduce fine lines, and restore a more radiant complexion. PRP treatments deliver natural results in delicate areas such as under the eyes, around the mouth, and the décolletage. While not as long-lasting as PRF, PRP provides a significant rejuvenating effect and can be repeated over time to maintain results. It is also commonly used in combination with other aesthetic treatments to further improve facial rejuvenation.

What is PRF Treatment?

Considered the next generation of PRP treatment and a more natural alternative to dermal fillers, PRF injections are 100 percent autologous, or natural to you, and contains a potent mix of platelets and white blood cells in a fibrin matrix and to minimize recovery time, increase collagen and elastin production and improve the overall health and appearance of the skin. The PRF formulation creates a unique fibrin matrix that slows the release of growth factors, allowing for prolonged collagen-boosting and skin rejuvenating benefits. PRF treatment may be used as an alternative to dermal fillers for its ability to enhance facial volume by stimulating collagen production within the deeper layers of the dermis.

What is PRF EZGEL Treatment?

PRP EZGEL is an innovative, 100% autologous regenerative treatment that combines the healing benefits of PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) with the smoothing and volumizing effects of a natural plasma gel. PRF EZGEL is created by heating a portion of your plasma, albumin, to form a gel which is then blended with PRF concentrate rich in platelets, growth factors, and white blood cells. This unique combination forms a smooth, injectable gel that provides both immediate volume replacement and longer-term collagen stimulation—offering a natural alternative to dermal fillers. EZGEL is ideal for areas of volume loss such as under the eyes, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and jawline. Its bioactive components work overtime to stimulate collagen and elastin production, while the gel matrix provides structure and lift. The result is smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin, with benefits that continue to improve over several weeks. Because it is completely derived from your own blood, EZGEL is considered biocompatible, and suitable for patients seeking a natural, long-lasting approach to facial rejuvenation.

How it works.

Both PRP and PRF treatments follow a similar process: a small amount of blood will be drawn and then centrifuged to either isolate concentrated platelets for PRP or a combination of platelets, fibrin and white blood cells for PRF to facilitate growth factor release. For EZGEL treatment, the PRF material is taken through a heating and cooling process to create a gel to be used as an injectable filler. PRP and PRF treatment can be used topically with microneedling permitting the release of potent growth factors in deeper layers of the skin. Alternatively, PRF and EZGEL can be injected into targeted areas of the face and body, to smooth lines or add volume, similar to dermal fillers. When used for hair restoration, PRP and PRF can also be injected into the scalp to stimulate new hair growth and improve hair density.
PRP and PRF FAQs
  • What are the side effects of PRP, PRF, or EZGEL treatments?

The side effects of PRP treatment or PRF/EZGEL injections are relatively low. These treatments involve a simple blood draw, so you may experience some soreness or discomfort from the location of the blood draw. Because the platelet rich plasma (PRP) or PRF/EZGEL is derived from your own body, there is minimal risk of an allergic or adverse reaction. Depending on the type of treatment you are having, you may experience some mild redness, swelling or bruising, but this typically resolves in the hours to days following treatment.

  • What is the recovery time for PRF/PRP and EZGEL injections?

Recovery from PRP, PRF, or EZGEL injections will vary according to the specific type and area of treatment. Generally, you can continue your normal daily activities. Patients should avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours and abstain from rubbing or manipulating any treatments areas. The treatment area may be slightly red or swollen, but this will resolve over the course of hours to a few days.

  • How long do EZGEL and PRF/PRP treatments last?

PRP treatment results typically become noticeable within 3-4 weeks, with full results appreciated after 3-6 months of continued treatment. The rejuvenating effects can last up to 18 months, depending on individual factors. For continued benefits, maintenance treatments are recommended. Following a PRF treatment, results may be seen within 1-2 months, with full effects becoming apparent over 3-4 months. The benefits can last up to 12 months, and multiple sessions are typically required for optimal results. Regular maintenance is advised to prolong the rejuvenating effects of PRF treatment. Immediate improvements in volume loss are noticeable immediately following EZGEL treatment, with results continuing to improve over the following weeks. The effects can last up to 12–18 months, depending on individual factors and treatment areas. Periodic touch-ups are recommended to maintain the desired appearance.

  • What are the alternatives to PRP/PRF and EZGEL treatments?

Alternatives to PRP/PRF and EZGEL treatments include injectable dermal fillers, biostimulators, microneedling, and laser skin resurfacing treatments, among others. One of the main differences between PRP/PRF and EZGEL treatment is that the product used is derived from your own blood and therefore is autologous or “natural to you.” PRP/PRF and EZGEL stimulate new collagen and elastin production, so the results are best appreciated gradually over time with repeated treatments. Each of these treatments offer specific benefits, and our experienced clinicians will determine which treatment will best help you meet your aesthetic goals.

  • What conditions do PRP/PRF and EZGEL treatments address?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin), and EZGel treatments address a variety of aesthetic concerns by utilizing your body’s natural growth factors to stimulate collagen production and tissue regeneration. These treatments are effective for: Reducing fine lines and wrinkles Restoring facial volume and enhancing contours Improving skin texture and elasticity Treating under-eye hollows and dark circles Addressing acne scars Promoting hair growth These treatments offer a natural, autologous approach to facial rejuvenation, providing subtle and long-lasting results with minimal risk of complications. The regenerative properties of PRP, PRF, and EZGEL make them versatile options for individuals seeking more natural solutions to facial rejuvenation.

Things to Keep In Mind for Treatment

  1. For best results, avoid any unnecessary blood thinning medications like anti-inflammatory medications (aspirin, Advil, Motrin, ibuprofen, Aleve, naproxen, meloxicam), prednisone, fish oil, vitamin E, turmeric. For patients who take these medications as prescribed by their physician, please continue taking as you normally would.
  2. Stay well hydrated.
  3. Avoid smoking and recreational drugs.
  4. Minimize caffeine and alcohol, as they can increase the risk of bruising.
  5. Arrive to your appointment hydrated, after a healthy meal, and with a clean face.
  1. Mild swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising is normal. Bruising typically peaks on days 2-3 and subsides after 5-7 days. Topical arnica can be used as needed to speed healing and resolve bruising.
  2. Do not touch or rub the treated area for 6-8 hours. Sleep with head elevated to reduce swelling (2 pillows).
  3. No makeup for 24 hours. Avoid ice and heat in any treatment areas for 24 hours, as it may decrease the efficacy of your treatment.
  4. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and smoking, as these can delay healing. Avoid strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours post-treatment.
  5. For two weeks following treatment, avoid sauna use and any unnecessary blood thinning medications like anti-inflammatory medications (aspirin, Advil, Motrin, ibuprofen, Aleve, naproxen, meloxicam), prednisone, fish oil, vitamin E, turmeric. For patients who take these medications as prescribed by their physician, please continue taking as you normally would.
