FAQ: Botox & Neurotoxins
  • What does Botox do, and how does it reduce wrinkles?

Botox is a neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes the facial muscles responsible for expression lines. By reducing muscle movement, Botox helps prevent new wrinkles from forming while softening the appearance of existing lines. The goal isn’t to change how you look, it’s to create a refreshed, natural-looking appearance that still allows you to express yourself.

At The Skin Center, our experienced nurse injectors perform a comprehensive facial assessment to create results that enhance your natural features.

  • What is the difference between Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify?

Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify are all FDA-approved neurotoxins that reduce facial wrinkles by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles. While they work similarly, each product has unique characteristics, including onset time, formulation, and how long results may last.

There is no single “best” neurotoxin for everyone. Factors such as your facial anatomy, muscle strength, metabolism, aesthetic goals, and previous treatment history all influence which product may work best for you.

At The Skin Center, your provider will recommend the most appropriate treatment based on a personalized consultation.

  • How many units of Botox will I need?

The right number of Botox units depends entirely on you. Every person’s facial muscles are different, so two patients of the same age may require different doses to achieve similar results.

During your consultation, your injector evaluates your muscle movement, facial balance, treatment goals, and anatomy to develop a customized treatment plan. Your dosage is tailored specifically to deliver natural-looking, and long-lasting results.

At The Skin Center, we also recommend a two-week follow-up for new patients to evaluate your results and make small adjustments if needed.

  • How long does Botox last, and how often should I get treated?

Most patients enjoy Botox results for three to four months, although the exact duration varies from person to person. You’ll typically begin noticing improvement within 3–5 days, with full results developing around two weeks after treatment.

For optimal wrinkle prevention and consistent results, many patients schedule maintenance treatments every three to four months. However, treatment frequency can be adjusted based on your goals, lifestyle, and budget.

Your provider may also recommend trying a different neurotoxin such as Dysport or Daxxify, if your body metabolizes one product more quickly than expected.

  • Where can I get Botox near me?

Finding the right provider for Botox near you starts with choosing an experienced team that understands facial anatomy and personalized treatment planning. The Skin Center offers Botox treatments at 10 convenient medical spa locations across Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Our experienced nurse injectors create customized treatment plans based on your facial anatomy, muscle movement, and aesthetic goals to help you achieve refreshed, natural-looking results.

    Cleveland, OH locations:

In addition to Botox, The Skin Center also offers Dysport and Daxxify, two FDA-approved wrinkle relaxers that work similarly but differ in formulation, onset, and duration.
