The Pittsburgh CoolSculpting procedure is a non-surgical, non-invasive, med-spa treatment performed in about an hour, depending upon the area being treated.
CoolSculpting fat loss treatment uses a targeted cooling technology to reduce fat cells below the surface of the skin.
During a Pittsburgh CoolSculpting procedure, the CoolCurve non-invasive applicator gently cools the targeted fat cells to the point of freezing.
When frozen, the fat cells die and are naturally reduced from the body, resulting in a gradual reduction of the fat layer without damage to the surrounding tissue.
Results are typically seen within three weeks of the fat reduction treatment; most dramatic results occur over a period of two to four months.*
When treating larger areas of the body using the CoolCurve™ applicator patients may experience mild pressure and a gentle cooling sensation as the targeted area is drawn up to the cooling applicator and between the cooling panels; this sensation lasts for just a couple of minutes.
Smaller areas of the body, such as inner and outer thighs, upper arms and upper back (bra roll), are treated with the smaller CoolSmooth™ applicator. The CoolSmooth applicator uses a non-suction based cooling application to eliminate fat from areas of the body that do not have “pinchable pockets of fat”. The new CoolSmooth applicator allows for more precise body sculpting on even the smallest problem areas.
Now, the most popular non-surgical fat reduction treatment is approved for use under the chin to improve the appearance of the “double chin”. Using the same technology as the CoolCurve, the CoolSculpting CoolMini™ applicator eliminates fat under the chin and improves the contours of the neck.
Once the cooling applicators are in place, people often read or relax until the CoolSculpting treatment is complete -- typically about an hour.
- No needles
- No anesthesia
- No incisions required
Most people return to their normal activities immediately following the CoolSculpting treatment.
CoolSculpting technology was developed by Harvard scientists after a simple observation was made -- children who ate a lot of popsicles had dimpling in their cheeks due to a loss of fat from the excessive exposure to cold.
This novel idea lead to the innovative cooling process behind CoolSculpting called Cryolipolysis. Cryolipolysis is the process of gently cooling fat to the point of freezing.
When fat cells are exposed to precise cooling temperatures, the fat cells crystallize causing the fat cells to naturally die, a process called apoptosis.
The fat is reduced through the body's natural metabolic process, in the same manner that fat in food is reduced from the body.
Benefits of CoolSculpting

- Natural-looking reduction of fat in the treated area
CoolSculpting cost will vary from patient to patient depending on the number of areas being treated and ultimately the body sculpting goals. To estimate the cost and develop an individual treatment plan, we encourage you to schedule a complimentary consultation. During your consultation, your body contouring goals will be discussed in detail; at which time an accurate CoolSculpting cost will be given.
