Aesthetic Facial Peel

Facial Peel
The aesthetic facial peel gives new life to dull, sun-damaged complexions by deeply exfoliating the epidermal layers, and smoothing and tightening the skin while fading brown spots and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

Aesthetic Chemical Facial Peel Procedure

The aesthetic chemical facial peel is a medium chemical peel that uses a combination of Trichloracaetic Acid (TCA) and Jessner’s Solution to penetrate to the deeper layers of the skin.

A few days after treatment, the skin will begin to turn bronze and feel tight.  Skin peeling will begin and continue for seven to ten days.  Once the old skin has exfoliated, the new skin will appear brighter, with a more youthful glow.

The aesthetic chemical facial peel improves the appearance of:

  • Mild to moderate wrinkles
  • Brown spots
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Skin tone and texture
  • Sun damaged skin

Most people see dramatic improvement after just one aesthetic facial peel. However, skin that is severely damaged may benefit from two or three chemical facial peels eight weeks apart.  It is also a good idea to do a maintenance facial peel every 6 to 12 months to help maintain the results.

FAQ's: Chemical Facial Peels

Is there any discomfort associated with the aesthetic facial peel?

During an aesthetic facial peel, most people feel a mild to moderate burning sensation while the chemical peel solution is applied and for as long as it remains on the face.  During the treatment, however, we routinely use a hand held fan to quickly cool the skin and diminish any discomfort.

For individuals who have difficulty dealing with discomfort, a mild oral sedative may be recommended. If a mild sedative is used, a friend or family member should be available to drive home after the appointment.

How much downtime is associated with the aesthetic facial peel?

Following the aesthetic facial chemical peel, the face will need to be cleansed and a dense moisturizing ointment applied multiple times each day for nine days.  Two to three days after an aesthetic facial peel, the skin will begin to peel excessively. The peeling will continue for about nine days.  On the 10th day, make-up can be applied.

It is especially important to apply a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher multiple times each day. It is also important to avoid direct sun exposure during the healing process and for at least 3 months after the treatment.

Are there alternative treatments for an aesthetic facial chemical peel?

A series of Fraxel treatments, a physician-performed Medium peel, a series of four to six PCA or SkinMedica peels performed every 10 to 14 days.
