How does Juvéderm Volux XC work?
Juvéderm Volux XC is a hyaluronic acid filler formulated with Juvéderm’s proprietary VYCROSS™ technology. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a sugar naturally produced by the body that attracts and retains moisture, making your skin look and feel plump and radiant with hydration. The main ingredient in Juvéderm fillers is a modified form of HA formulated with their priopriety VYCROSS™ technology which cross links these molecules to deliver extremely smooth, long-lasting, and natural-looking results.
What happenes during a Juvéderm Volux XC treatment?
A Juvéderm Volux XC treatment typically takes less than 60 minutes. First, your aesthetic clinician will apply a small amount of lidocaine to the targeted area to numb your skin and minimize any pain felt during the injection. Next, using an ultra-fine, ergonomic syringe, the filler is injected below the surface of the skin, with the goal of adding volume, defining the jawline and giving a natural-looking, sculpted appearance.
What can I expect after a Juvéderm Volux XC injection?
Most patients see results immediately. You might find that the injection site is mildly red and swollen, and you may experience some bruising for up to two weeks following treatment. If this does occur, place an ice pack over the treatment area. In general, after receiving this treatment, our patients feel comfortable to return to normal activities and can wear makeup within 12-24 hours. For the first day after your treatment, limit sun, heat exposure and exercise.
How is Volux XC different from other Juvéderm fillers?
Volux XC is uniquely formulated and FDA-approved to help shape and define the jawline and chin area. It is a structural gel, which means it’s formulated for adding volume to lift and contour the face. Among other formulas in the Juvéderm family, it is the firmest, making it a great choice for the chin and jawline area.
How many Volux XC treatments are needed to achieve a desired result?
Most patient only require one treatment of Volux XC, which may entail using multiple syringes to achieve their desired results. All of our aesthetic clinicians ask to see their patients two weeks after treatment to see if a refinement injection is needed for minor adjustments.
What are the side effects of Volux XC injections?
Some of the most common side effects from Voluma XC include moderate temporary injection-site tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration and itching. Because Volux is made of hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the body, there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction. In fact, same-day treatment is possible because Volux does not require skin testing.
