Juvederm Facial Filler
Juvéderm, which is made by the creators of BOTOX®, is FDA-approved filler made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar found in the body. The role of hyaluronic acid in the body is to hydrate the skin by binding to water. Juvéderm adds volume and restores a smoother appearance to depressed areas of the skin by supplementing the body’s diminished supply of hyaluronic acid. The results are instant and can last up to a year or longer, depending on the area treated. Juvéderm is formulated with lidocaine for enhanced comforte during treatment. Using an ultra-fine needle, the filler is injected just below the surface of the skin to plump the depressed area. Typically, a Juvéderm treatment takes less than one hour, and most people feel comfortable going back to their normal activities immediately. Makeup may be applied a few hours after treatment if no complications are present.

What are the possible side effects from Juvéderm wrinkle fillers?
Side effects from Juvéderm are mild and usually include injection-related side effects such as slight redness and mild bruising or swelling. Typically, these side effects dissipate within a few hours. Because the Juvéderm is made of hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the body, there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction. In fact, same day treatment is possible because no skin testing is required.
Are multiple Juvéderm treatments needed to achieve the desired result?
Many people will achieve the desired result after just one treatment. The effects of the Juvéderm are longer-lasting than other “temporary” dermal fillers, lasting up to a year or longer.
